Miller’s Sub-5 Mile Highlights Strong Showing at Lewis Invite
The UIS women's track & field team delivered several standout performances at the Lewis Invite on Friday night, highlighted by Madelyn Miller's historic mile run. Miller became the first UIS runner to break the 5-minute barrier in the indoor mile with a time of 4:57.00, marking a new milestone for the program. Her performance currently ranks No. 55 in NCAA Division II as of Friday night.
UIS Softball Heads South for Alvy Early Memorial Classic
The UIS softball team is set to compete in the Alvy Early Memorial Classic this weekend in Bentonville, Ark. The Prairie Stars will open play on Friday against Central Missouri at 11:00 a.m., followed by a matchup with Northwest Missouri State at 1:30 p.m. On Saturday, UIS will take on Washburn at 11:00 a.m. before wrapping up the tournament against Missouri Southern at 1:30 p.m.
Prairie Stars’ Rally Falls Short in 79-75 Loss to McKendree
Despite a career night from Jack Weber and a strong second-half push, the Illinois Springfield men's basketball team couldn't complete the comeback, falling 79-75 to McKendree on Thursday night at TRAC. The Bearcats improved to 11-10 (8-6 GLVC), while UIS dropped to 10-12 (5-9 GLVC).
"The difference in the game was perimeter shooting," said Coach Brock. "They started hot from three and seemed to hit a dagger every time we got in striking distance. They did a great job of limiting our shooters."
