Gov. JB Pritzker: Vaccines will be required for all Illinois school personnel starting Sept. 5
Saying that he wanted to head off a “pandemic of the unvaccinated," Illinois Gov. JB Pritzker Thursday mandated COVID-19 vaccines for all public education employees who work with students pre-kindergarten through college.
The vaccine mandate is scheduled to begin Sept. 5.
While the vaccine mandate does not cover students in grades K through 12, it does apply to college students.
Welcome Week: UIS students head back to classroom

That's exactly what University of Illinois Springfield students did Friday.
For the first month of the 2021 semester, all students, faculty, and staff on campus are required to take a covid-19 test at least once a week.
The campus also required all students on campus to get the covid-19 vaccine, with few of those exempted.
Events include the Jello Olympics happening on Sunday, the Welcome Picnic on Monday, and the Involvement Expo on Tuesday.
