        <div  class="newsletter-txt">Saying  that  he  wanted  to  head  off  a  “pandemic  of  the  unvaccinated,"  Illinois  Gov.  JB&nbsp;Pritzker  Thursday  mandated  COVID-19  vaccines  for  all  public  education  employees  who  work  with&nbsp;students  pre-kindergarten  through  college.&nbsp;



The  vaccine  mandate  is  scheduled  to  begin&nbsp;Sept.  5.&nbsp;



While  the  vaccine  mandate  does  not  cover  students  in  grades  K  through  12,  it  does  apply  to  college  students.</div>

That's  exactly  what  University  of  Illinois  Springfield  students  did  Friday.



For  the  first  month  of  the  2021  semester,  all  students,  faculty,  and  staff  on  campus  are  required  to  take  a  covid-19  test  at  least  once  a  week.



The  campus  also  required  all  students  on  campus  to  get  the  covid-19  vaccine,  with  few  of  those  exempted.



Events  include  the  Jello  Olympics  happening  on  Sunday,  the  Welcome  Picnic  on  Monday,  and  the  Involvement  Expo  on  Tuesday.</div>
