Gov. JB Pritzker signs laws aimed at improving college accessibility and affordability

"One law signed by the governor creates the Public University Direct Admissions Program, meaning students with a high grade point average will be able to automatically qualify for admission into some universities. The program will begin in the 2027-28 school year, with nine of the state's 11 public universities participating [including the] University of Illinois Springfield."

UIS Lincoln expert to speak at Chancellor’s Thinkers Series
WHAT: University of Illinois Springfield Chancellor Janet L. Gooch will discuss the enduring legacy of President Abraham Lincoln during a Thinkers Series event featuring Jacob Friefeld, director of the UIS Center for Lincoln Studies. Friefeld was recently featured as a historical expert on the HBO Max and Magnolia Network series “Back to the Frontier.”
