Why  did  you  choose  this  degree  at  UIS?



UIS  provides  the  best  internship  opportunities  related  for  my  field.  I  like  that  UIS  has  the  option  to  pursue  a graduate  certificate  in  Geographic  Information  Systems,  which  is  highly  desired  in  the  environmental  field.

Why  did  you  choose  this  degree  at  UIS?



After  earning  my  B.A.  in  Environmental  Studies  from  UIS  in  2019,  I  wanted  to  continue  to  explore  my  environmental  interests.  I  chose  this  concentration  because  it  offered  opportunities  to  build  and  apply  valuable  skills,  such  as  using  Geographic  Information  System  (GIS).

University  of  Illinois  President&nbsp;Timothy  L.  Killeen&nbsp;has  announced  that&nbsp;Adriana  Crocker,&nbsp;University  of  Illinois  Springfield&nbsp;professor  of  political  science,  will  serve  as  the  newest  Presidential  Fellow.  Crocker  is  the  first  faculty  member  at  UIS  to  be  named  a  Presidential  Fellow.</div>

Richard  Gilman-Opalsky,  associate  professor  of&nbsp;political  science&nbsp;at  the&nbsp;University  of  Illinois  Springfield,  has  been  named  University  Scholar  for  2018.  The  award,  considered  the  university  system’s  highest  faculty  honor,  recognizes  outstanding  teaching  and  scholarship.  Only  one  faculty  member  receives  the  annual  award  at  UIS.</div>
