Laila Ikeard of Springfield has been admitted to the University of Illinois Springfield for the fall semester of 2025 and awarded a $20,000 Star Scholar Award for tuition over four years. At UIS, she will major in psychology.
The scholarship is awarded based on high school GPA and can be renewed if the student maintains college GPA requirements.
In high school, Ikeard was involved in the National Honor Society and track and field.

Mia Dumonceaux of Springfield has been admitted to the University of Illinois Springfield for the fall semester of 2025 and awarded a $20,000 Star Scholar Award for tuition over four years. At UIS, she will major in medical laboratory science.

After graduation, Dumonceaux plans to pursue a career as a pathologist assistant.
UIS Baseball Wins Dramatic, Weather-Stretched Regular Season Finale 13-2
The Illinois Springfield baseball team wrapped up its 2025 regular season with a memorable 13-2 win over McKendree on Saturday. The game, scheduled for an 11:00 a.m. start in Lebanon, Ill., was halted in the fourth inning due to torrential rain. After a lengthy delay and relocation to a turf field in Greenville, Ill., the game resumed at 7:00 p.m., and the Prairie Stars finished the job in seven innings.
UIS Women’s Golf Heads to Michigan for East Regional
The Illinois Springfield women's golf team will compete in the 2025 NCAA Division II Women's Golf East Regional this Monday through Wednesday at The Meadows Golf Course in Allendale, Mich., hosted by Grand Valley State University. The 54-hole event features 18 teams and six additional individuals.
