UIS English class studies video game narratives in the Esports Arena
The University of Illinois Springfield is merging technology and academics by using the campus Esports Arena in a first-year seminar led by Professor Tena Helton. The course, ENG 113: Video Games and Gaming, utilizes video games to deepen students’ understanding of narrative structure and analysis.
Since developing the course in 2014, Helton has focused first on making the class accessible for all students, particularly when it comes to gaming equipment.
UIS Women's Cross Country to Appear at Bradley Pink Classic
The Illinois Springfield women's cross country team is set to compete at the Bradley Pink Classic this Friday, Oct. 18, at Newman Golf Course in Peoria, Ill. Following their recent outing at the Lewis Crossover, the Prairie Stars are eager to close out the regular season against a field of teams from NCAA DI, DII, and DIII.
The Bradley Pink Classic welcomes teams from all divisions, with two races scheduled for both men and women. UIS will be racing a partial squad in the Women's White Race (B Race), starting at 2:15 p.m.

The UIS men's soccer team resumes its conference schedule this weekend, aiming to get back in the win column after a challenging home stand. The Prairie Stars will face No. 8 McKendree on Friday night at 7:30 p.m. and Maryville on Sunday at 2:30 p.m.
