The Illinois Springfield women's cross country team raced at the NCAA DII Midwest Regional Championship on Saturday, Nov. 9, at the Lewis Cross Country Course in Romeoville, Ill. The Prairie Stars finished 13th in听a tough field of competition, including several top-10 nationally ranked programs and regional powerhouses.听

- Junior听Maddie Miller听led the Prairie Stars with a standout performance, finishing in听22nd place听with a 6k time of听21:57, earning听All-Region honors
- Kaleigh Inniss听followed closely, running an impressive race with a听46th-place finish听in听22:38.听Jordan Serrahn听was the next UIS finisher, placing听72nd听with a time of听23:12
- Jade Aubrey听was close behind, finishing听95th听in听23:38, while听Marissa Roggensack听added to the depth with a听102nd-place finish听in听23:42
- Lillian Buzani听and听Emma Leahy听completed the lineup with times of听23:44听and听24:02, finishing in听106th听and听124th, respectively
- The Prairie Stars took 13th place out of 27 teams, marking their听best-ever regional finish听and surpassing their previous best of 15th place in 2019

Grand Valley State听claimed the team championship, with the top two individual finishers leading the way for the Lakers.听Lewis听finished as the听top GLVC team, taking second place overall. The final automatic bid went to Cedarville.
The top three teams, along with two individuals not on with those teams, secured automatic bids to the national championship, while other teams and individual runners will await potential at-large selections. The full national championship field will be announced on Monday, Nov. 11.听
