End Polio Now

The End Polio Now campaign is Rotary International’s global initiative to eradicate polio worldwide. Launched in 1985, it partners with organizations like the World Health Organization, UNICEF, the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, and the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. The campaign focuses on:

  • Mass immunization efforts to reach every child, even in remote or conflict-affected areas.

  • Surveillance and response systems to detect and stop outbreaks quickly.

  • Advocacy and fundraising—Rotary members have contributed over $2.6 billion and countless volunteer hours.

Because of these efforts, polio cases have been reduced by more than 99%, with the disease now endemic in only a few countries. The campaign’s ultimate goal is total eradication, ensuring no child suffers from polio again.
