However, as we move forward together this fall semester, it鈥檚 important to recognize that some members of our university community may be experiencing stressors or other challenges associated with recent tensions amid a shifting broader climate.

Gooch will discuss the enduring legacy of President Abraham Lincoln during a Thinkers Series event featuring Jacob Friefeld, director of the UIS Center for Lincoln Studies. Friefeld was recently featured as a historical expert on the HBO Max and Magnolia Network series 鈥淏ack to the Frontier.鈥�

A Call to Think: Enduring Legacy of Lincoln
Jacob Friefeld and Chancellor Gooch will engage in a powerful conversation about the enduring legacy of President Abraham Lincoln. As Director of the Center for Lincoln Studies, Dr. Friefeld is uniquely positioned to guide us through Lincoln鈥檚 life, leadership, and the ways he was perceived in his time. They will explore the relevance of Lincoln鈥檚 principles today and will draw meaningful connections and parallels to our current societal landscape.
