It’s finals week, which means we’re nearing the close of a wonderful semester. In fact, we’re celebrating our summer and fall graduates today with refreshments 3-5 p.m. in the Student Union Ballroom. Stop by and congratulate them while you’re out and about on campus. Thanks to Student Affairs and the Alumni Association for hosting this fun event.

Chancellor Gooch has announced the 2023-24 membership of the Chancellor’s Intercollegiate Athletic Advisory Committee (IAAC). The IAAC is chaired by Dr. Marcel Yoder and made up of faculty, student-athletes, staff and administrators of UIS. Its charge is to facilitate collaborative communication and counsel for the athletic department on matters relating to student-athlete academic welfare, academic integrity and the educational objectives of the university.

At 5:15 p.m. this Friday, join me as we kick off the holiday season. You have put in so much effort to make this a great semester, so let’s enjoy this annual opportunity to build community with our students as we prepare to finish the year strong.

Our Fall Employee Information Session is TODAY from 2:30 to 4 p.m. in Brookens Auditorium. This session will focus on budget and enrollment, with presentations by Drs. Ken Kriz and Vickie Cook. Following the presentations, we will answer audience questions.

I look forward to seeing as many of you as possible at this opportunity to share and discuss important information about our university. Light refreshments will be available following the meeting.
