UIS begins planting 1,000 Japanese maple trees

Ìý°Õ³ó±ð University of Illinois Springfield is planting Japanese maple trees on its campus. On Tuesday, April 27, the university started planting the first of 1,000 trees. UIS plans to place the first 100 near the UIS-LLCC bike trail. The trees were donated by Davidsan's Japanese Maples, a business in New Berlin. The donation is being made to honor more than 30 years that Springfield has had a sister city relationship with Ashikaga, Japan. This story aired on WICS Newschannel 20 on April 27, 2021. |
UIS men's tennis earns first NCAA D-II bid

University of Illinois Springfield earned its first bid to the NCAA Division II national men's tennis tournament on Tuesday.  UIS was awarded the fifth seed in the Midwest Regional and will face fourth-seeded Hillsdale in a first-round match in Midland, Michigan on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. The Prairie Stars finished the regular season with an 11-4 record and advanced to the Great Lakes Valley Conference semifinals last weekend. Hillsdale won the Great Midwest Athletic Conference tournament and went 15-2 on the season. |
