UIS begins planting 1,000 Japanese maple trees

听罢丑别 University of Illinois Springfield is planting Japanese maple trees on its campus. On Tuesday, April 27, the university started planting the first of 1,000 trees. UIS plans to place the first 100 near the UIS-LLCC bike trail. The trees were donated by Davidsan's Japanese Maples, a business in New Berlin. The donation is being made to honor more than 30 years that Springfield has had a sister city relationship with Ashikaga, Japan. This story aired on WICS Newschannel 20 on April 27, 2021. |
UIS men's tennis earns first NCAA D-II bid

University of Illinois Springfield聽earned its first聽bid to the聽NCAA Division II聽national聽men's tennis聽tournament on Tuesday.聽聽 UIS was awarded the fifth seed in the Midwest Regional and will face fourth-seeded Hillsdale in a first-round match聽in Midland, Michigan on Saturday at 1:30 p.m. The聽Prairie Stars finished the regular season with an 11-4 record and advanced聽to聽the Great Lakes Valley Conference semifinals last weekend. Hillsdale won the聽Great Midwest Athletic Conference tournament and went 15-2 on the season. |
