is not just kids being kids. Bullying involves isolation, humiliation and persecution. A large percent of bullying occurs in front of people. By publicly dominating the victim and demonstrating their lack of social support, the bully establishes a 鈥渞ight鈥� to torment them. Once that happens, it reduces the chance that anyone will step forward to help the victim.
Assertiveness involves standing up for one鈥檚 rights or expressing one鈥檚 feelings, opinions, and preferences in a way that is honest, direct and appropriate. It involves respecting your own rights as well as the rights of others. Many types of situations require assertiveness, including: making a request; granting or refusing a request; and giving or accepting a compliment.
