Why am I getting an error trying to access Google Scholar?

When trying to access you may sometimes run into the following error: "ERROR for site owner: Invalid domain for site key" or "Please show you're not a robot." This can happen when too many people are accessing Google Scholar through our proxy server. There are two ways to bypass this error:

Option 1: Use Google Scholar without our proxy server address

If you experience this error and are off-campus, a possible workaround is to go directly to Google Scholar (i.e., not through our proxy server). This will allow you to search Google Scholar, although you won't see the "Get UIS Full Text" links within Google Scholar using this method.

Option 2: Configure your settings

Link your Google account to Brookens Library, so the “Get UIS Full Text” links will always appear – even if you don’t start your search from our link.

To configure your settings manually, try the following steps:

  • Go to
  • Click the three lines in the top left corner.
  • Click "Settings".
  • Click "Library Links".
  • Search for University of Illinois Springfield. Check the "University of Illinois Springfield - View It @ UIS" box.
  • Save your settings.
  • You can now continue to search and should see the Get UIS Full Text links next to articles we have access to.

Unfortunately, this does not always solve the issue. The error issue should resolve itself in a day or two.

Who is eligible to use Interlibrary Loan (ILL)?

Currently enrolled students, faculty (both current and emeritus), and staff of UIS.

Where is the School of Education office?

The School of Education office is in BRK 377.

This is on the office side of the library building, not on the library side. If you need help finding this office, we'll be happy to direct you at the library front desk!

The School of Education Office can be contacted here:

Where is the Math Lab?

The Math Lab is in BRK 373, the Brookens Library building, on the classroom side.

Where is the archives and where do I park?

Archives/Special Collections and IRAD are located in Brookens Library, Room 144. This room is located on Level 1, next to the Information Technology Client Services(ITS) area. Once you enter the doors to the ITS area, Archives is located to your right.

Brookens Library is in the center of campus and Parking Lot B, on the east side of campus, is the best place for visitors to park. We also have several handicapped parking spots and 2 metered parking spots available near the library. To access these you will turn from Eliza Farnham Drive onto University Plaza.

Where is my classroom? My course list says my class is in Brookens Library.

Brookens Library is located in only half of the building. The other half of the building is comprised of classrooms and offices. You can access the classroom side of the building through the elevator on the second floor, also known as the main floor, on the East side of the building. You can also access the classroom side through the stairwell, on the East side of the building.

If the elevator is out of service, come to the Main Desk and we will assist you with accessing the classroom side of the building.

For any further assistance, please contact the Main Desk 217-206-6605.

Where is BRK 230A?

This is our big classroom on the main floor (2nd) of the library side of Brookens. If you are wanting to book this room for a class, please see our space request page.

From the main entrance of the library, make a slight right and navigate to the left-hand side of the Feature Film shelves.

Where do I sign up for CINRC workshops?

Upcoming workshops are listed on the All workshops require registration due to their popularity and limited seating. You can find more information on a workshop, as well as a registration link, by clicking on its calendar entry.

What is the cost for Interlibrary Loan (ILL)?

Charges for Interlibrary Loan (ILL) services are subsidized by Brookens Library and not passed on to the user. However, users are responsible for the cost of shipping materials back to Brookens Library if returned by mail. Loans obtained via Interlibrary Loan (ILL) become the borrower's responsibility from the time of receipt until the material is physically returned to Brookens Library. Users will be responsible for costs incurred due to lost or damaged items.

What is the charge for a lost book?

The charge for a lost book is $75. Lost book fees are waived upon return of the item in good condition; or you can purchase a replacement of the lost book.
