What do I do when I get a databases says I'm not entitled to access this resource?
If while trying to do research or accessing an article you encounter an error that says "Forbidden, you are not entitled to access this resource," visit our and try accessing the database you're looking for from there.
What can I borrow from the Library of Things?
University students, faculty, and staff can borrow home and kitchen items, board games, and technology equipment. The contains a complete catalog of available items.

What are the hours for UIS Archives/Special Collections and IRAD?

The UIS Archives and Illinois Regional Archives Depository (IRAD) are currently open, but we are in the process of hiring a new archivist. Our resources are limited at this time and we are largely unable to book appointments. You can call (217) 206-6520 or email archives@uis.libanswers.com with any questions about the archives or IRAD.

Due to Secretary of State rules, IRAD interns cannot return email or voice message requests for records or information. They must receive a mailed request, a phone call, or a voicemail containing your name, mailing address, and the criteria for your record search in order to help you. An IRAD intern is currently on site from 8:00am - 1:00pm, Monday-Thursday. If you reach an intern via a method other than telephone, they will reach back out to you via mail.

A member of our staff will get back to you as soon as possible, and help you as best they can. We apologize for the inconvenience and are working as quickly as we can to return to normal operation.

I returned an item, but I received an email saying it is lost. What should I do?

Please submit the form below and our staff will address this as soon as possible.

Once this form is received, employees will conduct a thorough check to locate the item. When found, it will be removed from your account and all fees will be waived. We kindly ask that you check your home/vehicle/etc. as our staff searches for the item. Please note: while the item is being searched for, it will remain on your library account. However, during this time, no fees for this item will be charged to your account.

Claims of returned items are accepted at the discretion of library staff.

I turned in my overdue item, how long does it take to get my fees cleared?

If you received an email saying an item is overdue, fees will be waived immediately upon return.

OR

If you received an email saying charges are being posted to your student account, then they will be removed as soon as possible. Usually this will take 1-2 business days. If these fees are affecting your ability to register for classes, please call the library to speak with us directly.

Is my book ready to be picked up?

Is the scanner open for public use?

Yes, anyone can use the scanner and printers. The printers cost a small fee (10 cents per page for black/white, 25 cents per page for color), which you can pay at the library main desk.

Is there a gender neutral restroom in the library?

At this time there is no gender neutral restroom in the library. The nearest facilities are in the Public Affairs Center (PAC) located on the first floor around the corner from the Bursar's Office, and in University Hall (UHB) located on the first floor in the Admissions and Records office area.

May I borrow entire journals via Interlibrary Loan (ILL)?

No, you may not borrow an entire journal. The Interlibrary Loan (ILL) department can order articles from journals following copyright laws, but the journal itself may not be borrowed in its entirety.
